When it's relevant

A blocked feeling, muffled hearing, itching or discomfort in the ear.

Why it's worth a visit

Wax is the usual cause, but infection and other problems can feel the same, and cotton buds tend to make matters worse.

How your GP can help

Your GP looks in the ear, confirms the cause and removes wax where that is appropriate and safe.

Your questions answered

A few of the things people often wonder about before booking. If there's something else on your mind, just ask, we're always happy to talk it through.

Should I use drops beforehand?

Softening drops for a few days often help. Ask when you book.

Is wax removal safe for everyone?

Not always, for example after ear surgery or with a perforated eardrum. Your GP will check first.

My child has ear pain. Is this the right appointment?

Book a standard appointment so the ear can be examined.
