When it's relevant

Wheeze, cough at night or with exercise, breathlessness, or needing your reliever puffer more than a couple of times a week.

Why it's worth a visit

Well-controlled asthma should rarely get in the way of daily life. Needing a reliever often is a sign that treatment could be working better.

How your GP can help

Your GP reviews your symptoms and inhaler technique, adjusts treatment where needed and writes an action plan for what to do when symptoms flare.

All of our GPs can help with this.

At least once a year, and after any flare-up.

What is an asthma action plan?

A written plan that tells you what to take day to day, what to do if symptoms worsen and when to get urgent help.
