About the change
Is North St Ives Medical closing?
No. North St Ives Medical is becoming St Ives Doctors and moving to a new home at St Ives Plaza Shopping Village on Mona Vale Road. This is the next chapter of the same independent practice founded by Dr Peter Hopkins more than four decades ago.
What is changing?
In Spring 2026:
- Our name will be St Ives Doctors.
- We will consult from our new location at St Ives Plaza Shopping Village.
- Our website and practice communications will transition to the St Ives Doctors name.
What is staying the same?
The people who care for you are moving with us. Our existing doctors, nurses and front desk team will continue caring for patients at the new practice.
Your medical records will remain securely with us, and our phone number and booking system will remain the same.
There has also been no change in ownership. We remain locally owned and independently operated.
Why is the practice changing its name?
The name North St Ives Medical reflected our longstanding location in St Ives Chase.
As we move around the corner to Mona Vale Road, the word “North” is no longer an accurate description of where the practice is located. The name St Ives Doctors is simpler, clearer and better reflects the broader community we care for.
While the name is changing, the people, relationships and independent approach patients value will continue.
Why is the practice moving?
The simple reason is that we have outgrown our current premises.
As general practice has evolved, our current location has increasingly limited the range of clinicians, services and procedures we can accommodate.
The new purpose-built clinic has been designed specifically for modern general practice. It will provide improved clinical facilities, updated technology and a more comfortable environment for patients and our team.
It will also give us the capacity to strengthen our clinical team, improve appointment availability and provide a broader range of care over time.
Your booking confirmation will clearly show which location to attend.
Has the practice been sold?
No. There has been no change in ownership. St Ives Doctors will remain locally owned and independently operated, with clinical decisions continuing to be made by clinicians.
Your doctors, care and medical records
Will I still see the same doctors and team?
Our existing doctors, nurses and front desk team are moving with the practice and will continue caring for patients at the new location.
The new premises will give us greater capacity to strengthen and stabilise our team and improve availability over time.
Preserving the personal care and relationships patients already value will remain central to St Ives Doctors.
Will Dr Caroline Scarman continue consulting?
Yes. Dr Caroline Scarman will continue consulting while also serving as Clinical Lead.
In this role, Caroline supports clinical governance, quality improvement and collaboration across our GP and nursing teams.
Her appointment reflects our commitment to remaining GP-led, with clinical decisions made by clinicians.
Do I need to register again or transfer my medical records?
No. Your medical records and history will remain securely with the practice.
You do not need to complete a new registration form or arrange for your medical records to be transferred.
Will my prescriptions, referrals, recalls or results be affected?
No. The move will not affect your existing prescriptions, referrals, recalls or follow-up arrangements.
Please continue to follow any instructions already provided by your doctor or the practice.

When will the new practice open?

Appointments before this date will continue at our current practice in St Ives Chase. Once the new clinic has opened, appointments will be held at St Ives Plaza Shopping Village.

Appointments, bookings and fees
Do I need to change an appointment I have already booked?
No. Your appointment will remain as booked unless we contact you directly.
Your booking confirmation and appointment reminder will clearly show the location you should attend.
Will the phone number or booking system change?
No. Our phone number will remain the same: (02) 9144 7340
Our existing booking system will also remain the same, so you can continue booking appointments in the usual way.
Online bookings will move to: stivesdoctors.com.au
Our current website will direct patients to the new website.
Will the practice’s opening hours or appointment availability change?
There will be no immediate change to our usual Monday to Friday consulting hours.
The new practice gives us greater capacity to extend consulting hours and improve appointment availability over time. Any changes will be published on our website and booking page.
Will appointment reminders and emails look different?
You may begin to see the St Ives Doctors name and new website address on appointment reminders, emails and other practice communications before the move.
These communications will still come from our practice.
Will fees increase because of the move?
No. We have kept our fees unchanged since 1 July 2025, and the move itself will not result in an increase.
Fees may be reviewed from time to time, but any future fee changes would be considered separately and communicated to patients in advance.
Services and facilities
Will pathology be available at the new location?
Yes. Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology will operate an independent collection centre at the new location, allowing patients to have pathology collected at the same location as the practice.
What services will be available at the new premises?
St Ives Doctors will continue to provide comprehensive general practice care, including:
- Preventive health and health assessments
- Chronic condition management
- Women’s, men’s and children’s health
- Care for older patients
- Skin checks and minor procedures
- Wound care
- ECG and Holter monitoring
- Iron deficiency assessment and iron infusions
- Vaccinations and nursing care
The new premises will also allow us to expand the clinical and procedural care available and introduce complementary healthcare providers over time. Some additional services and providers may be introduced progressively after the practice opens, with updates published on our website as they become available.
Our aim is to make more of the care patients need available in one convenient location, with clearer connections between services.
Preparing for the move
Do I need to do anything before the move?
No. Our team is working behind the scenes to manage the move carefully and make the transition as smooth as possible. We will provide further updates before the move, including practical information about parking, entering the centre and finding the practice.
